Tax Office Opening
- Reminder – All tax bills can be paid online. Click to view the payment website.
- A large, standing lockbox is in the lobby for people to drop off tax payments during the time that the town hall building is open.
- Masks must always be worn in the Town Hall.
- Use the hand sanitizer offered at the Tax window.
- Please bring your own writing instruments to the window.
- Stand at the marked locations to socially distance.
- Follow the yellow arrows for one-way traffic flow.
- If the line to the tax office exceeds five (5) people, write your name and telephone number on the whiteboard. Please wait outside or in your vehicle until called to come into the building. This would reduce the number of people waiting in the building and in the lobby.
Do you have a problem/question about your tax bill?
- Most common problems and questions on tax bills can be answered at the Assessor’s office. All corrections to tax bills must be processed in the Assessor’s Office.
- Call the Assessor’s Office: 860-675-2370
- Assessor’s staff will attempt to correct the problem during the phone call but if they cannot, an appointment for the taxpayer to come to the office will be made.
- If the appointment is within the next 30 minutes, the taxpayer will be directed to wait in their car until called to come to the Assessor’s Office.
- If the appointment is on another day, the taxpayer should arrive in the parking lot approximately 15 minutes before their appointment. At the time of their appointment the Assessment staff will call them and indicate that it is okay to come to the office or let them know that there is a delay and to wait in their vehicle until called. Once the office is available, they will be directed to come directly to the office.
- Only the taxpayer will be allowed in the Assessor’s office during their appointment unless the taxpayer has a caretaker that needs to assist them.
