September has arrived and brought cooler temperatures and more heavy rain with it. But, this weekend (a long one for most) we celebrate Labor Day, and the forecast looks great! Sunny with temperatures in the low 70s, perfect weather for golf! Why not schedule your tee times now, so you won't miss out on the beautiful weather this weekend? Click here to grab the best rate and enjoy 18-holes (or nine!), at Tunxis Country Club, plus lunch at The Tavern Restaurant.
If you're planning to stay closer to home this weekend, this is the last week to take advantage of the "Connecticut Summer at the Museum Program." Through Monday, September 6th (Labor Day), Connecticut children, ages 18 and under, plus one accompanying (CT resident) adult, can visit participating museums, free of charge! Farmington's Hill-Stead Museum and Stanley-Whitman House are both participating. Click here for details, and a complete listing of participating museums, statewide.
Don't forget to add these upcoming Community Events, to your September calendar, as well:
- Saturday, September 11th: The Town of Farmington, and our town’s Boy, Girl and Cub Scout Troops, invite you to join them in a remembrance ceremony, for the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. Click here for details.
- Tuesday, September 14th: The Farmington Fire Department is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive, in honor of fallen fire fighter, Colin McFadden.
- Sunday, September 26th: The Farmington Rotary Club is holding their annual 5K Trail Race, at Tunxis Mead Park.
Rather than think of September as the end of Summer, I prefer to think of it as the doorway to Fall, and there's so much to look forward to here in Farmington! Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day Weekend, and Happy New Year to all who celebrate Rosh Hashanah!
