The Friends of the Farmington Libaries is preparing for its next book sale, to take place at the end of March at the main Farmington library at 6 Monteith Drive. In order to ensure the success of the sale and future sales, the Friends group is appealing to community members to donate gently-used books of all genres, including adult fiction and non-fiction, biographies, cookbooks, history, science and nature, gardening books and children’s books, board games and puzzles. Donated items will also be used to stock the Book Nook (in the library’s lobby), where sales are ongoing throughout the year.
The public is asked to note that the Friends cannot accept books or other items that are damaged in any way. VHS tapes, encyclopedias, magazines, Reader’s Digest condensed books, outdated travel guides and other time-sensitive materials also cannot be accepted.
All donations (two bags or boxes at a time) can be brought to the lobby of the main Farmington library. If requested, the circulation desk staff at the library will provide a receipt for tax purposes.
The profits from all sales supported by the Friends are used for high quality library programs for children and adults and help in the purchase of needed books, technology items and other library materials. Staff training and museum passes are also supported by the sales.
