This time of the year we look forward to celebrating the holidays, and while this year may look, and feel different, our local businesses and art and culture organizations have creatively developed some wonderful local events. We will update this page continuously, throughout the holiday season.

Farmington/Unionville Scouts - Light Up Our Town

The Unionville Museum and Farmington Community and Recreational Services would like to invite all Farmington neighbors and business owners to decorate their yards, houses and businesses, in celebration of the Holiday Season! This year especially, we want to celebrate our health care workers, our teachers, first responders and all those helping our wonderful community through the COVID-19 pandemic. So, let us all Light Up Our Town, spread joy and gratitude, and celebrate our resilience! This socially-distanced event will take place on Saturday, December 19th, 2020, from 4 to 6 pm, on School and Perry Streets in Unionville, and will feature carnival of lights, fire trucks, music and Santa and Mrs. Claus (sponsored by the Knights of Columbus of Unionville) who will watch over the drive-thru celebration! On the day of the event, decorate your car, ring bells, get your hot cocoa or cider and take your family for a drive through the Light Up Our Town Fest!

Farmington Farm Truck at Hein Farm

Santa Visits the Farm - Sunday, December 20th, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm! Santa is skipping the sleigh for the day and will be greeting all the good boys and girls from our Farm Truck! (From a safe distance, of course.)

Fork & Fire's 2nd Annual Xmas Eve Xscape

Join Fork & Fire on Christmas Eve, December 24th, for their 2nd Annual Xmas Eve Xscape, from 12:oo - 4:00 pm. Delicious cocktails and bar snacks will be served up by Santa and his number 1 helper, so xscape your house for a bit and spread some cheer!

Hill-Stead Museum

This year, the Hill-Stead Museum and Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) are embracing the unique opportunity to reimagine the annual holiday tradition of The Nutcracker. From November 27 through January 10, BTC's touring costume exhibition, Through the Tulle, will be on display. Imagine the museum decked out in festive garb with 20 sparkling pieces from the theatre company's Through the Tulle costume exhibition. Guests tour the historic house where the bespoke costumes have been laid out in rooms and carefully paired to highlight their respective room’s extraordinary Impressionist art, aesthetic, color palette, and mood. The costumes showcased exemplify the wide range of time period, design, style, and personality that BTC’s costume designers have mastered while outfitting dancers from productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Don Quixote. Hill-Stead's Carriage Porch will come alive with BTC's resident professional dancers as they twirl, leap, and pirouette in a snow globe brought to life! Visitors will be mesmerized as they watch from the outside, transported to New York City's Fifth Avenue for a stunning window display.

Also at the Hill-stead, Winter in the Hills, Balance your child’s screen time with some outdoor fun at Hill-Stead’s winter afterschool program. Children ages 9–14 will explore Hill-Stead’s expansive property, hike the trails, create natural artworks, and much more!. Each session introduces new adventures, games, and challenges. For More Details: Click Here
