In its inaugural grant in October 2021, the following seven community organizations received funding totaling over $24,000 to benefit the residents of Farmington.

The Farmington Community Fund Advisory Committee was established in 2020 as part of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving establishment of $100,000 community funds for each of the 29 towns in the Foundation’s region.

In 2022, the Foundation allocated an additional $50,000 for each Community Fund, with $30,000 available for current use grantmaking and $20,000 going toward the endowment.

The Advisory Committee is an all-volunteer advisory group made up of Farmington residents who administer the grant process and consider applications for grant funding from local nonprofits that serve and benefit town residents.

The purpose of the community funds is to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town. In 2020, The Farmington’s Community Fund Advisory Committee was selected. For more information, please contact Sarah Burns or Andrew Garza, Committee Co-Chairs, at FarmingtonCTCommunityFund@gmail.com. Committee membership is available by clicking here.

The community funds program also creates an opportunity for organizations and individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to any of the 29 Community Funds to support their towns. Donations of any size are appreciated.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for Hartford and 28 surrounding communities.
