Although the Friday night "Hometown Rallies" have ended, Farmington and Unionville businesses, town departments/services and residents continue to rally together and support each other! Here are some of the ways they're doing it:
Learning from Each Other and Showing Appreciation: The Farmington Community and Recreational Services Summer Camp visited with front line workers, from the Town of Farmington, to learn more about what they do, how they're equipped to do their jobs, and to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
Donating Meals/Food and Enjoying Eating Out: Cugino's Restaurant of Farmington and George's Pizza Restaurant both donated take-out meals for the Summer Meal Delivery program, Carol of Carol's Lunchbox shared her hot dogs with first responders, Subway of Farmington donated lunches for the Rec Summer Campers, and Anthology of Farmington and Farmington Station donated food for the Services for the Elderly's Meals on Wheels program! Many other restaurants have stepped up during the pandemic as well, including Naples Pizza, Butchers & Bakers, Toro Loco, just to name a few. We can show our gratitude by continuing to support and patronize all of our Farmington restaurants!
Volunteering Time, Services and Funds to Meet Community Needs: Many have volunteered their time to keep community services like the Farmington Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Summer Meal deliveries, and the Annual Tomato Plant Distribution running, their skills to create masks to protect town services staff, volunteers and recipients, and their funds to help cover the costs of delivering services to the Farmington residents who rely on them. Thank you all for your time, dedication and support!
Offering Ways to Connect, Enjoy Activities and Learn, Safely and Creatively: Farmington Community and Recreational Services kicked off their Summer Concert series with a socially-distanced live music performance and Ice Cream Social. The Summer Concert series will continue every Thursday night, at 7:00 pm, through August 13th. They're also offering Summer Camp opportunities and Recreational Programs, both in-person and online. Be sure to check out their Summer Catalog!
Farmington Continuing Education is also offering a large variety of fun and creative virtual classes this Summer, for all ages! Pictured below is a Virtual Strings Class. Check their web site often, as courses are added daily!
The Farmington Senior Center is offering a drive-thru lending library (seniors only) and virtual "meetings," like the Woodcarvers Group, pictured below.
In addition to a vast selection of online books, audiovisual materials and databases on their website, the Farmington Libraries are offering virtual Summer Reading and a large selection of virtual programs, for all ages! Check the Event Calendar, on their website, for details and to register!
Keep up the good work, Farmington! If we stay positive, active and connected to each other, we can continue to support one another and keep our Community Connections strong!
